This was suggested by my Art 151 teacher...very cool artwork...this guys name is Mark Bradford...he does awesome mixed media and collage that I have fallen in love with. I LOVE IT.

This piece is the one for the gold leaf project, however I chose to use a silver leaf paper and also encorporate the usual encaustic and tracing paper. This piece was also a risk because I painted the flower from still life observation and had never done this before. I like the way it turned out, especially the bright colors of yellow/orange and deep blue.

This is a piece to commenmorate Bob Marley, and definitely not his actions and choice of lifestyle..but maybe his outlook on life and his creative solutions to solving the worlds problems...I like the piece because of the Black and White focal point of him singing, and because I depicted my favorite quote of his in my favorite song of his, with my favorite style of typography I personally have. The piece is only 4x4 however I think the texture is very creative and nice. :D

And these are EVEN MORE of the rest of my concentration with the encaustic, string, and shapes...however with an even DIFFERENT color scheme! I like it very much. But never as much as the orange/brown ones.

These little Jewels represent the next series to my concentration in AP art and are also a new color scheme with the blue and metallic colors. I like these, not as much as the brown/orange concentration series, but still a great deal. I love doing the encaustic, string, tracing paper and geometric/organic shapes. Fun Fun Fun.

Happiness

This piece was done a few weeks back and is called "Happiness". It's actually a citrasolv image transfer of Beyonce Knowles. However after I completed the image transfer, I used watercolor to add some depth to the piece and make it seem more real. I like the rough feel of it, the visible texture. And I also like my letters/typography and found materials: string. Overall however the appearance isnt too crafty it looks like poor craftmanship.

This is the same still life done by the analytical cubism only it's now synthetic. I like this one because of the colors and my color scheme. This also seems to have good balance to me. I think it's funny how starting out, it's like, it needs something here, now over here, and then at the end, you're like, holy cow, I just figured out what balance is! lol, that's what happened in this one. Epiphany. Title by the way is Keys. (bc those are piano keys)

This is the analytical cubism.Best part of this is the upper left hand corner that is cut out of the picture I think. It's good overall. I'm starting to like drawing by observation more and more. YIKES!

This is the inclass piece number two. It's my encostic and I went with an oriental theme. I got my ideas from my egg roll wrapper and just drew designs. I hope you can see the detail on the leaves. It's all watercolor, india ink, and wax. It's aaaiight.

First Piece for in class!!! This is the papercut. I really like my flowers, but the girls shoulder is awkward or something. Idk but I'm pleased overall. It's 14x17 and just black paper and white matte board underneath. :D

Whatever, y'all arent' stupid... you'll figure it out. Basically my cupboard is just full of hundreds of Mario Olive cans. Man I love olives.

This is the fourth piece. My hand under tension. My actual hand is on the right, pulling the string to cut on the light. I recieved inspiration for the dyptic by deciding to draw the lightbulb... Then thought it'd be cool to do one lights out, one lights on. So, that's what I did. Left says lights out, right says lights on. My hand could definitely be better, but I'm pleased with my lightbulb, and with the piece overall. Click on it to see it bigger... I was too lazy tonight to crop the image.

So, another "just for fun" piece. This started out as a pencil sketch, of pencils in our pencil drawer. We are running very low on pencils actually, being the summer and all. But Oh My...I do like this one. As always, I have to give what all is wrong with it, like.... there is some sploosh on the pencils at the very, very, bottom center of the piece. I picked the color yellow for the... what should that be called? A Splat? Yes... A Splat I think....Because pencils are yellow!!! My pencils looked better in pencil, but they weren't as bold as the horizontal lines/lettering, so, I had to make them stand out, and then, the Splat looked distracting and not purposedly created, so I had to make it bolder with a black outline... And yes ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at my pencil drawer. Just lovely.

So, I am posting some summer art work, that I am just doing for fun, not homework, but you know, I thought I'd share. This is called "Sunglasses", as you can see is scrawled along the left side of the board. And...hopefully you can see the image for the title. This isn't my favorite, both this piece, and the piece above started out as pencil sketches, but I kept adding more and more. I used the same material twine for each of what would be plastic on these sunglasses, that I used on "Trapped inside of a Closet". I like the material. The twine is brown but I painted it purple and put liquitex over it. Then I added Black fabric for the shades, and incorporated some of it again along the left edge. It is cut very ragged, which is why I think I went too fast. I need to slow down. But then it looked plain so I added some pattern to the background....and...yeah...sunglasses...everybody...

Definitely not my best. I was rushed on this one, seeing how the date slipped my mind...I've been spending a lot of time at the beach you see. However, I do like the idea... This picture cuts out the edges of my piece. :( It's the architectural piece, I have a billion copies of this same view. I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO WITH IT!!! But anyway, I'm going to post some other versions of the same thing... but they aren't much better from this here. This view is across the marsh, which is the title of the piece, in Myrtle Beach, where I stayed at a condo. There is part of the balcony in it.

Not my best, but I'll do better. :/

So, this was supposed to be my "traditional" inside of a closet piece, but it turned out different. I get a little carried away. I experimented with new mediums, this is sharpie on colored tissue paper, then pasted onto a harder, courser toothed paper. then it was lacking color in the background, so I added some tissue on the matte paper under it. (not real matte paper, too expensive for a kid without a job). And uh, yeah, I'm liking it. I drew my shoes from observation. Those are the original, Easler Aqua Converse. I think I might like this drawing then designing thing. Good idea Brandt. :D

So this is the inside of the dishwasher piece, I played around with typography a little, and pattern detail. The original idea was to do the pattern across the whole piece in the background...but I don't know, it didn't seem like it would turn out too well. I still need to add some things to this one, like, I think I want to do a solid background color, burgundy maybe. I like my different take on the prompt again, drawing is boring, but I still did what you asked Brandt, I started with drawing from observation. :D.

TRAPPED INSIDE OF A CLOSET

This is the inside of a closet prompt and...I meant to have completed a more "traditional" inside of a closet piece today also, but I need acrylic paint. SO...maybe by next monday. But, I like the idea that I took for this piece, my focus being texture. The photo doesn't do this piece justice, however, the hands I drew from observation, are bonded with twine, On this piece, I used rough twine for my medium and painted it black with red. I'm not much of a drawer so I really ventured out for this piece. On the bottom of the piece, again the photo doesn't really show, I wrote, "trapped inside of a closet." That's it for June 15th, I'll keep it coming.

This is my bicycle. I like this piece becuase my subject matter seems original. Mr.Brandt actually told me about Edwyn Lowandowski,(i totally just butchered that name, i think), and he does Precionism. This is similar to Precionism, however, my focus was on the negative space. I didn't even want to add the lines, but...it was lacking in the end, and the lines ending up giving a design feel, I think.

I believe that this is our third project in art, and I have been trying to experiment with every piece that I have done thus far, and experiment is what I did. My original plan for this project was to use liquitex image transfers on EVERYTHING, and just layer, overlap, and design over pictures. But...Liquitex was unavailable. So, I experimented with citrasolv. Cool, process. Doesn't always work. I like my uniqueness, and that it was more of a piece of artwork than an actual poster, but I ended up envying more what everyone else produced, than liking my uniqueness. For the cd cover, I'll stick more to getting the point across. And relying on technology.

It's not that blurry, I promise...

So this is Serene. I know I sound like a total freak, but I know everything about Serene. Even though she isn't real. She just came out of my head for this project. Which of course, is the Fibanacchi Spiral. The spiral is her hair, curling up around her lips. With this project, I really wanted to experiment with fabric. Her face is actually japenese silk paper, which is soft like fabric, her hair has ribbon through it. The lines in the negative space are also ribbon, and the colored squares are pieces of fabric. I named her Serene because Serene can be her name, or it can describe her state in the piece.

Tell me what you think...improvements, etc. I'm going to doctor her up I

think.
